Which sizes should I choose?
16, 32 and 48 pixels cover common small-icon uses. Include 256 for a larger Windows icon. A single ICO contains each selected size; this is not a ZIP download.
Does it remove backgrounds?
No. PNG and WebP transparency is preserved, and added padding is transparent. A JPEG's existing background stays visible. Animated images use a single decoded frame.
